Mr. Vijay Mahajan: Vijay Mahajan is one of the founding members of IGS. Vijay Mahajan co-founded PRADAN in 1983, BASIX in 1996, Sa-dhan in 1998 and APMAS in 2000. He has co-authored a book “The Forgotten Sector” on the rural non-farm sector and written over 50 articles on rural livelihoods, development and micro-finance. Vijay is BASIX group CEO and Chairman. He is a member of the Committee on Financial Inclusion, the Microfinance Equity and Development Fund and is also on the Board of IRDA, Chairman of CGAP, Executive Committee (the global microfinance apex). He was selected “Outstanding Social Entrepreneur” by the Schwab Foundation of the World Economic Forum, Davos in the year 2003. He studied engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and Business Management from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. Later he studied Public policy as mid career fellow at Princeton University.
Dr. Sankar Datta: Sankar Dutta is one of the founding members of IGS. He has over two decades of experience in extending professional services for rural development activities, especially focusing on livelihood support/promotion, and working with micro-enterprises. He studied Post graduation in Rural Management from IRMA and Doctorate in Agriculture Economics from Sardar Patel University, Gujarat. Sankar is presently Dean of The Livelihood School.
Mr. Anoop Seth: Anoop Seth has over 28 years of experience in banking sector in India and Middle East. He completed his Masters in Management Sciences from BITS Pilani. He worked with Bank of America and Standard Chartered Bank. He has also worked in corporate finance head of Bechtel Enterprises and as Chief Financial Officer of Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (IDFC), Senior Vice President, ABN Amro Bank N.V., Mumbai. He is presently working as the Managing Director, AMP Capital Investors
Mr. Yves Lafond: Yves Lafond a Canadian national has 28 years of experience related to the management and development of international organizations and projects. His area of expertise includes Development of strategies and methodologies for management of organizations and projects, microfinance and micro-credit, small enterprises system development, and Organizational development. Yves has studied Masters in Commercial Sciences.
Ms. Lakshmi Raman: Lakshmi Raman has 20 years of banking experience and worked with Bank of America, Chennai, Bank of India, Chennai and Bank of India, Bangalore. She is a Professional Member of Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Science (ISABS). Since 1996, she is the core team member of Kaizen Surya Associates, a consulting group working with organizations in the social sector. She has been involved in Organization Renewal and Change Management, mainstreaming Gender in Development, Savings and Credit Programs for Women, applying experiential learning methodologies to Training and Personal Growth programs for individuals.
Mr. B L Parthasarthy: B L Parthasarathy is an experienced rural development professional specialising in rural financial services and institutional development. He has studied Agricultural Economics and MBA from IIM-Bangalore. He has worked with Syndicate Bank, Action Aid, Intervention (India) Ltd., Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and BASIX Group. During 2005 to 2008, he functioned as the Managing Director of Krishna Bhima Samruddhi Local Area Bank (BASIX Group).Currently Mr.Parthasarathy is heading the Consulting Division of BASIX. The Consulting Division is offering its services in India as well as in Asian, Pacific and African countries. Parthasarathy also serves as a Director on the Boards of C-TRAN and BASIX Krishi Samruddhi Ltd. He is also the President of BEMACS (BASIX employees Mutually Aided Cooperative Society).
Mr. Arijit Dutta: Arijit is designated as director of IGS. He has over 23 years experience in the development sector with reputed national and international organizations. His key skills include programme design, implementation and evaluation, and analysis of policies and institutional strategies in rural livelihoods, institutional development, micro finance and natural resource management. He has been exposed to both working with cutting edge workers as well as senior and policy level professionals and institutions. He studied Agricultural sciences and also attended the international training program on microfinance organised by Boulder Institute.
Mr. N V Ramana: N V Ramana has worked with ITC group for 20 years in Agri-business responsibilities. He worked with BASIX group of companies in various capacities, as Senior Vice President, Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer. He is Graduate in Dairy Technology and has studied Agri Business Management from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. He is also on the Board of CTRAN, a BASIX group of companies.
Dr. Sudha Nair: Dr Sudha Nair is a microbiologist and obtained her doctorate from the University of Madras in the year 1991. She has eighteen years of work experience in taking the benefits of Science & Technology for sustainable rural development and livelihoods and has played a significant role in policy formulations for women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
She is currently a Senior Director and heads the J R D Ecotechnology Centre where she coordinates the activities of a multi-disciplinary team. She is also ccoordinating basic research in understanding the microbial diversity to harness them in activities related to sustainable agriculture practices and agri-residue utilization for bio-energy options. She serves on various committees at the National (Department of Science &Technology, and Department of Biotechnology) and International (Member Executive Board Organization of Women Scientists for the Developing World, Advisory member of the Regional Office Asia Pacific Region, UNESCO and Member Gender Advisory Board, UNCSTD) to promote equality for Women in Science and in taking the benefits of Science to Women.
Mr. Arvind Gupta: Arvind is Fellow from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad with specialization in Marketing and Agri business, has 25 years hands-on industry experience, with focus on Rural livelihoods, Agriculture & Allied industries. He was Professor at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand and involved with many national/international studies. Prior to his joining at IRMA, Arvind has worked with various reputed companies such as NDDB. At present He is Visiting Faculty to two National level Institutions viz. VAMNICOM, Pune and MANAGE, Hyderabad.
Mr. Mihir Sahana: Mihir is the designated Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of IGS. He has a basic background of agriculture and postgraduate degree in rural management from IRMA and a mid-career post-Graduation Degree in Development Studies from The University of Manchester, UK. He has worked for more than 15 years with a host of national NGO, INGO, corporate and Government enterprise. His initial career with PRADAN (Professional Assistance for Development Action – a national NGO working across India) exposed him to the grassroots realities of rural poor and he worked with PRADAN’s Natural Resource Management Team. His stint with the Bihar State Dairy (a state government enterprise) and then in Dabur has helped him pick up necessary skills of achieving steep targets, sales and marketing and also developing a good understanding of both the corporate and a government run enterprise.
He finally shifted to the livelihood sector and joined an international and corporate NGO, IDE International, with a mission to promote livelihoods of small and marginal farmers by identifying, developing and promoting appropriate technologies using principles of marketing to achieve scale and sustainability.
After his mid career course, he joined the Sr. Management Team of BASIX and is involved in developing a host of innovative products and processes by provisioning of financial services both in the farm and non-farm sector, provisioning of innovative business development services and developing linkages with corporate and technology provider like Pepsico, ITC, ICAR Institutions etc and institutional development services in collaboration with various Government Departments. His areas of interest is to undertake action research and has undertook consulting assignments for many donors like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, IFAC, Government of Bihar, NABARD, IWMI etc. He has keen interest in training and capacity building of both grassroots workers and professionals and in networking.
